Process
In unit 2, lithography is the main medium of my research project for prints since its slow process and I could show my drawing delicate on the prints. Because I found during the creative process, it is good for me to concentrate on think the initial idea constantly then keep going through each making steps. Here are some major processes of my works.
Drawing
- everyday drawing
Printmaking: Stone lithography
- Grind stone with carborundum (60 - 220 grit)
- Flow acid on the stone surface
- Dry the stone
- Do edges with Gum Arabic
- Drawing with crayon
- A thin layer of resin
- A thin layer of French chalk
...First etched...at least 24 hours
- A very thin layer of gum Arabic on the stone surface with cheese rag
- Dry it
- Washing the image with white spirit and rag
- Get ready with two bowls and clean sponges
- Washing the surface with one of sponge to get rid of gum and white spirit
- Use another clean sponge to wet it
- roll non-dry ink up (during this step should keep surface in wet constantly)
- After last printing of this term, roll up non-dry ink one or two times
- Dry it
- Resin and French chalk
- Gum the stone
