Artist statement

I explore intimacy and close objects to deal with feeling of anxiety or chaos from my experience and memory. Through printing, drawing and visible mending, I try to heal myself and get supported from trauma and chaos. Etching and photolithography are the two most used media in the unit one, physical labor of printmaking is essential part of my works which isolates myself to think and talk individually.

These close objects are picked from personal experience, I draw everyday seeing and feeling then print, now I am exploring visible mending with the images. The images could connect with emotion experiences or who supported me when I’m in a suffering mood. For instance, dad’s jacket, someone’s moustache and feeling of worrying to lose and of hugging my pets.

Through creating process, I question power of intimate objects and surfaces. People usually like to be supported and afraid to lose especially from the intimacy since it shows reliable trust in every day. If printmaking works was a therapy of life, the power of intimacy could be a crucial aspect in my prints. Depends on the everyday, I observe and discover insignificant things into art, which generate new narratives, invite imagination and ambiguity of objects.
